I think having some kind of positive experience notebook is a great way of creating positive experiences everyday. In order to look at life in positive ways, one should remember even the smallest of positives through out the day because life is not all good or bad, there is always a gray area. Like the yin and the yang . When life seems all dark, there is always something positive in it and when there is all positivity, there is always something negative. I really liked on of the activities that Ms. Paczkowski, the special education teacher, posted for her students on twitter.  She had her students write the name of another student or pick the name of another student and write why they are such an awesome person . Hopefully, the teacher gives them a name and not that they have to pick a person because this can skip students. Nice way to create positive feelings and positive experiences for the day and self-esteem.

My Learning Style

Visuals  I have at least four learning styles, I learn visually, auditory, hands-on and I am introverted.  I like  to read materials over if I don't comprehend them, and I will also look at videos that help me learn. There are times that I have to look at different videos to understand content and it is satisfying when I find the right professor who explains materials in an understandable way. The content on  the video, the way the instructor explains, and whether the student captures content, varies individually. When visuals are not enough, I have to do it or practice it by hand.  For example, in one of my anatomy classes, The pictures on the book on skin cells,  and different types of tissues were not clear enough,  I had to see it through a real microscope. I also had asked the professor what  I was looking at?  The cells were different and I wanted to know the difference between them and how to distinguish the nucleus in each of the cells.  I can also

Having Good Humor in the Classroom

When I was growing up, I remember my teachers being very serious. I always did admire their seriousness and authority. I always did want to be that way. I also remember the kids being very respectful to teachers and never talking back. I work at a Head Start where children are preschoolers  and boy, do they talk back. They always correct the teacher and I wonder if it is a generation thing or  they are just learning. They are indeed very black and white thinkers. When singing songs differently, that is where the correction starts. They begin letting you know over and over how the song does not go that way. LOL, The older kids are different I suppose? At least when I was growing up they were. Anyways, I want to be a fun teacher as I am with my preschoolers. I do joke around and give instruction with humor; I even sing songs in silly ways. I like to be fun in that way, not only because that is the way I am, but children do learn or understand more. I even help my son
Technology and Education  Technology is great to use with students as long is not taking the whole curriculum, so bits and pieces of it can be very resourceful.  My child is a visual and kinetic learner.  I also think that many students are visual and can definitely benefit when teachers use movement to teach concepts.  When I am explaining concepts or reading to my son, I like to reference back on google images. Therefore, he knows what I am talking about . I did not have google or youtube as a child, and being able to use these tools for teaching, is amazing. Moreover, I like to read him stories and I like adding music to it.  When I help him with homework, I also like being funny and I play with him to make it fun and not boring.  One of the things that I can find damaging to students, is word processor or google docs. It automatically corrects spelling errors and therefore, students are not trying to memorize writing.  Students and adults are not only beco
