When I was growing up, I remember my teachers being very serious. I always did admire their
seriousness and authority. I always did want to be that way. I also remember the kids being very
respectful to teachers and never talking back. I work at a Head Start where children are preschoolers
and boy, do they talk back. They always correct the teacher and I wonder if it is a generation thing or
they are just learning. They are indeed very black and white thinkers. When singing songs
differently, that is where the correction starts. They begin letting you know over and over how the
song does not go that way. LOL, The older kids are different I suppose? At least when I was growing
up they were. Anyways, I want to be a fun teacher as I am with my preschoolers. I do joke around
and give instruction with humor; I even sing songs in silly ways. I like to be fun in that way, not
only because that is the way I am, but children do learn or understand more. I even help my son with
concepts and homework in very silly ways, but as a teacher, I can not be too silly I have to put my
foot down when needed and be serious when I have to.
I agree, it is betted to make learning more fun. I also work with preschoolers everyday an without humor theres no way I could make it through a whole entire day. Acting silly makes the day better for me, the teacher, and the students :)
ReplyDeleteI think humor makes the students feel comfortable around their teachers. I hope to also incorporate humor and fun into the classroom.
ReplyDeleteYou made some good points! I would hate to be in a classroom and feel like the teacher is just there because she has to. If they teacher makes their students feel comfortable then the students would feel comfortable enough to ask questions and not be shy or intimidated.
